At the Elgin Cathedral what to see:
Strong square towers flanked by on a large arched window the west façade centers on each side (c. 1270) with eight engaged columns above a wide processional portal. With foliage and dog tooth decoration are carved the outermost archivolts.

By the Bishop Columba of Dunbar (from 1422 to 1435) were added the sculpted tympanum and arches of the two doorway, on the gable can be seen high his coat of arms, of the king and of Moray the Bishopric along with those. Over the doorway the oval niche, empty now, of the Holy Trinity, the cathedral was dedicated to whom a sculpture probably contained, what can still be seen by adoring angels flanked.

For the ruins of the cathedral for the excellent views can be climbed the north tower, the countryside which is surrounding and the town of the Elgin. In the south tower at the base climbers enter, then below the great window via an enclosed walkway cross to the north side.

To the sky now open the nave and with grass carpeted, has disappeared mostly now, but to be seen some notable remains there are still. For its height and grandeur give a sense of the great pillars the foundation, and there are large statues in the south corner that in the central tower in niches once stood high. A knight and a bishop depicting, giant chess pieces they look like. With elaborate designs carved for a Pictish cross slab look near the presbytery.

In the late 15th century rebuilt its side aisles and the presbytery, remain intact those remarkably. With a large rose window and two levels of five slender arches is decorated the attractive east façade. There is the chapter house on the north side next to the presbytery, as a meeting place to its use thanks of the cathedral the best preserved site. With a slender central pillar and with carved roof bosses the fine star vault it has a floor plan of octagonal shape.

The Elgin Cathedral is a cathedral, it completely abandoned for the centuries and became a ruin site. The architectural style of the Elgin Cathedral is Gothic style. The visiting hours for the victors given below –
● From April to September: From 9.30 am to 5.30 pm daily
● In October: From 9.30 am to 4.30 pm daily
● From November to March: From 9.30 am to 4.30 pm, Monday to Wednesday and Saturday to Sunday.
