The Great Sphinx of Giza: Mythological and Mysterious Guardian

About the Great Sphinx of Giza, Egypt:
In Egypt located next to the Pyramids of Giza a colossal stone statue is the Great Sphinx. In limestone carved out, of a man has the facial features the Great Sphinx and of a recumbent lion of a body. It is 73 meters (240 feet) long and 20 meters (66 feet) high approximately.

The history of the Great Sphinx of Giza:
By the Pharaoh Khafre of fourth dynasty c. 2575 – c. 2465 BC the 4th king in about 2530 BC the Great Sphinx was built, of the second Giza Pyramid they were the occupant and builder. A portrait of the king is the dace of the Great Sphinx and through most of the Egyptian history to be a royal portrait type the Great Sphinx continued.

As a guardian figure to be primarily is thought the Great Sphinx, by warding off the evil spirits of the Khafre protecting the tomb. By the name of Abu al-Hawl which means the “Father of Terror” Arabs knows the Great Sphinx.

Around 1800 during French occupation was mainly damaged the Great Sphinx’s face, when for their field cannons for target practice Mameluke troops used it, but for thousands of years by the elements has been weathered its body.

The mystery and myth of the Great Sphinx:
The Great Sphinx surrounded by a number of mysteries, than the pyramids perhaps even more. Firstly, for the temple to chip off the Great Sphinx such heavy blocks why the builders chose it is still not known or to build the temple how they moved them.

But suggesting the rainfall instead of, by sea water the Great Sphinx had been worn and in the ocean that lay its origins proposed the Schwaller.

Also suggested that the Schwaller, of about 2500 BC than its accepted date the Great Sphinx was far older. About 3000 BC for the beginning of the Egyptian civilization is the current date, which means that in a mere 500 years the sophisticated science, building skills and mathematics developed the Egyptians. A new development was not the Egyptian knowledge, he proposed that, but from a far older civilization a legacy, possibly the Lost City of Atlantis of Plato’s.
