The history of the Almoravid Koubba:
From the nomadic Sanhaja Berber tribe is now the Mauritania in what reformers and monastic type warriors were the Almoravids (1062-1145). Their homeland after conquering, in 1062 to Morocco they expanded and all the way to Algiers extended their empire eventually.

During the Almoravid Dynasty the Koubba was built and for the Ben Youssef Mosque was probably an ablutions annexe. The many rebuilding’s of the mosque over amid it was covered for centuries, in 1952 it was only excavated.
