The districts of the Kyoto:

Over the following districts are spread out the city’s numerous landmarks, palaces, temples and shrines.
● Central district
The Nijo Castle (for the Tokugawa shoguns a former residence) and the Imperial Palace’s the stately grounds. By the massive steel and glass buildings of the city which is the main gate way for this city the Kyoto Station is anchored the central districts southern end.
● Arashiyama district (Western Kyoto)
Against the beautiful hills of Arashiyama which are tree covered this district is set, in both natural wonders and historic landmarks this district is rich.
● Higashiyama district (Eastern Kyoto)
Between the temple studded mountains of Higashiyama and the Kamo River is located this district, there are many attractions in this area which includes the historical sites strung and the famous geisha district of Gion alongside with the Philosopher’s Path which is well known.
● North district
There are centuries old temples and shrines and among them there are many World Heritage Sites. The pavilion of Kinkaku-ji which is magnificent one of the most famed attraction in the Kyoto can be found in this district.
● South district
The Japan’s former capital’s a large part is covers this district, in the west stretching from the Oharano area to the Fushimi-ku in Daigo, and in the east southern tip of the Higashiyama.
