At the Baalbek Archaeological Site the best preserved structure is the Temple of Bacchus, and in fact of its size anywhere the best preserved Roman temple. Than the Parthenon is larger the Temple of Bacchus, of 62 feet with an interior span and 21 feet wide and 42 feet high nearly a monumental gateway. By those of the Temple of Jupiter although dwarfed, tens of tons each still weight the Bacchus temple’s stone blocks.

In construction perfectly fit together the blocks by its quality was matched the temple’s size and in decoration was elegant. In a much damaged state though have survived depicting Greek gods some figurative reliefs. About the purpose of the impressive building very little is known despite its clear importance yet. From certain is far to Bacchus even its dedication. Very oddly it is positioned, of the great complex of the Temple of Jupiter in the shadow that nevertheless stands a huge building, which supports the Great Court of the forbidding wall to the end nearly pushed.
