At the Anuradhapura what to see:

Between the Sri Mahabodiya and Ruvanveliseya is situated the Lovamahapaya. As the Lohaprasadaya or the Brazen Palace it is known also. By an important event is marked the reigns of King Valagamba, in Ceylon in Buddhism the first schism. In Abhayagiri Vihara lives the most learned bhikkus. A large library it consisted. It is recorded that this library was destroyed during the reign of King Gothabhaya and King Voharakatissa and driven away the heretical monks. The Abhayagiri Vihara was renovated by King Parakramabahu, to have been 140 cubits is said then the height. At its base a diameter of 94 meters (about 307 feet) and of 70 meters (about 231 feet) to a height stood which had the Abhayagiri Vihara in 1875. Out of thick gold of a bull made in a figure enshrined are said to have been the relics of the Buddha.
