Abydos: The holy city in the ancient Egypt (Part – 2)

At the Abydos what to see:
In area is huge the site of the Abydos and of the desert around the edge a number of mounds and ruins includes. However, to the grand Temple of Seti I stick most of the visitors because of the restrictions of the police and time.

An L-shaped layout of unusual has the Temple of Seti I and the sanctuaries multiple in number, but to the Egyptian temples the common elements incorporates otherwise. On the north side is the entrance, where mostly are destroyed the forecourt and pylon but some reliefs of partial still contain, like that at the Qadesh the enemies defeating the Ramses II, of the forecourt in the left side.

To the upper second court from the forecourt lead the stairs, where are displayed the statues which are damaged. Greeting the Horus, Osiris and Isis of the Ramses II with the reliefs covered with the square pillars there is a façade the second court overlooking. In concrete has been rebuilt of the façade the upper part.

After the death of the Seti by the Ramses II completed the outer Hypostyle Hall the sunk reliefs which contains. Very much impressive they are not which suggesting that to the Ramsesseum which is his own temple to work the best craftsmen of the Seti redeployed the Ramses. With the goddess Selket the temple measures the Ramses shows on the wall of entrance and to the Horus presented it. To the Osiris, Horus and Isis of papyrus of a falcon headed box offers the Ramses and by the Horus to the temple is led and with the holy water to be anointed the Wewawet who was the jackal headed god by the ankhs of interlinked represented.

In front by the Maat and Ronpet who was the god of the year, in back by the goddess of west the Amentet and Nephthys is attended the Osiris. Still are colored brightly on the back wall the reliefs, and by the gods being crowned and anointed the Seti show. On the left is high a section which is notable especially, of Re-Herakhte and Ptah between the sanctuaries, before Osiris and Horus kneeling with Seti in the background with the sacred tree of persea.
